Break Down Your Walls

I discovered this flash video on ilchi.com. It had a message by Ilchi Lee, and it struck a cord in me and I became excited to share it. So here it is:

Bright SkiesI want to tell those who are encased in a wall of loneliness and emptiness,
Those who are trying to fill up that space with something, anything,
To stop trying to fill up that small space.
But instead to break down the walls and meet time and space,
The skies, the stars, and this earth.

That this is when they will feel true freedom.
That this when they will find a shining star of a vision inside their hearts.
That this is when their lives will be eternally bright and free.
That this is when they know they are eternal beings.

What do you feel when you read it? These are the kinds of messages that stir me awake.

A succinct summary of Ilchi Lee’s philosophy on the nature of humanity is this Declaration of Humanity ratified at the First Humanity Conference in June 2001 in Seoul, South Korea. This 12,000-person event included such dignitaries as former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, environmental activist Maurice Strong, and renowned journalist Seymour Topping.

Ilchi Lee’s Philosophy of the Soul

According to Ilchi Lee, before you were born, your perfect soul was fully connected to the universe, existing in a state of emptiness and nothingness. When a soul is born into a body, it is separated from the divine, and so generates feelings of loneliness and dissatisfaction. But when you connect your soul to universal energy, or Chunjikiun, your loneliness vanishes. Your soul is happy basking in Yuln’yo, the light, sound, and vibration that forms the source of all life.

The root of your soul lies in your True Self, the essential, unchanging part of you. The root of your True Self lies in Chun-Ji-In, the Heaven-Earth-Human triumvirate that is One. To listen to your soul is to get in touch with your True Self.

Covering your True Self, is your False Self—all of the information and emotions in your brain. It is your philosophy, value system, and personality; it is your body and mind, and the illusion that life and death are distinct and separate. Your False Self is a mask manufactured by your ego for protection. It’s something you build on and construct throughout life to have a role to play in the world. Your False Self craves safety, recognition, and control. Your True Self on the other hand craves the highest forms of human interaction, such as unconditional love and harmonious unity with others.

People’s life struggles stem from the inherent discord between the True Self and the False Self. When people believe they are their False Self, they are denying or are unaware of their own infinite power. On the other hand, when your True Self acts as the master of your body and mind rather than the False Self, you are tapped into the creative potential of the universe. As you follow your True Self, you will let go of your instinctive need for safety, recognition, and control, and replace these desires with the desire to be Hong-ik, or widely benefitting others.

The True Self’s purpose in this life is the completion of your soul, known as Chunhwa in Korean. When your soul is complete, you truly feel happy and at One with the creative divine energy of the universe. When a body dies, a complete soul returns to this energy; an incomplete soul becomes a ghost or reincarnates again.
Completing your soul is a life process for which you must be aware of this life purpose and follow four steps:

  1. Train your brain to be peaceful and healthy.
  2. Develop relaxed concentration, or the capacity to concentrate, strongly and consistently, which can be only achieved through focused and rigorous training.
  3. Use your brain with 100% effort.
  4. Unleash the full creativity of your brain to manifest the dream of benefitting your and everyone’s life to actualize a harmonious and peaceful world. This dream is known as Hong-ik Ingan Ee-hwa Saegae.

As you develop your soul, your consciousness expands, meaning the love that is your true nature expands. Love is the unifying element that bonds people together. When we are able to love widely and unconditionally, our True Self will shine more brightly in the world. As our ability to love others grows, it radiates outward from us, reaching farther and farther in its ability to touch others. As love grows, it follows this basic pattern of expansion: self ➛ family ➛ country ➛ the world. The expansion of our consciousness renews our lives, gives us hope, and leads to a beautiful future.

Physical and mental manifestations

Posted by: Ilchi Lee Prof

You have a higher spiritual existence—your True Self. Your current physical and mental manifestations are here only to serve the purpose of your spiritual master, your True Self, as part of a healing and completing process of cosmic harmony and balance. Do not sell yourself short.

When you let your True Self guide you, you are letting Jesus or Buddha himself guide your life. You are letting God be your personal guide, because all of us have the divine inside us.

Ilchi Lee Prof says when you feel your True Self, you will first feel an appreciation for everything around you. You will appreciate that you are able to open your eyes every morning. You will appreciate the intake of every breath. You will be thankful for movements in your arms and legs.

Education develops character in humans

Let us begin by awakening our dormant senses first. We do not lack for information. What we lack are our senses that should warn us of the gravity of the situation we are facing right now. When we have awakened these senses, we can begin the transformation. Let us all awaken the senses that will allow us to communicate with each other and with the Earth in a way that verbal language cannot. Let us awaken the sensation of energy that gives us life, and the spirit that is our eternal existence.

Ilchi Lee advice that enlightenment is not far away. It could not be closer. Stop putting your own enlightenment off and choose to acknowledge it – this is the first step. This choice will bring you clear-sightedness to see the world as it really is, and to honestly judge what you have done so far. It will show you where you want to go in the future.

Education develops character in humans. Thus, the educational system should be the first thing that is changed. Parents must once again take on the role of educators, enlightened educators who can communicate their Earth-Human awareness to their children. An Earth-Human parent is a teacher, healer, and an activist at home. They are healers skillful enough to care for their family’s mental and spiritual health, and activists who live what they teach. When parents fulfill their roles as teachers, healers, and activists, homes will compel society to recover its lost role as a living, vibrant community. Change at home will translate to change other parts of society. Home will be a rich and fertile field from which the seeds of Earth-wide change will sprout.

Meditation and Why the Brain Loves It

Useful info by Ilchi Lee that meditation is the brain’s way of “breathing deeply.” It is Dahn-jon breathing for the brain!

Now, remember that the mind and the body are inextricably linked. And just as Dahn-jon breathing calms the mind, so, too, does meditation calm the body.

Meditation is a term that refers both to a state of consciousness in which a practitioner watches oneself, as well as a method for achieving such a state.

As a method, meditation means quieting the mind in order to more clearly see one’s self. That is something that most people know. But here is something that many people do not realize: meditation is a phenomenon that occurs naturally as our consciousness awakens.

Characteristics of Ilchi Ki-gong

Lifting heavy weights to train the muscles is not the only way to train the body. By performing movements that slightly angle the joints and by practicing breathing techniques as we gather and release Ki, even in a short period of time, our bodies are warmed up, energy circulates, and we can train internal Ki. Beginners can readily develop Ki awareness merely by repeating these simple movements. Although performing the same actions, the advanced practitioner with a deep level of training is able to enter a blissful state of deep concentration through these simple movements. This is the essence and true beauty of Ilchi Ki-gong.

So practitioners need the right mindset and correct principles, and a proper teacher, all of which serve as guides. Proper philosophy, principles, and teachers act as guides which the practitioner can use during training to conquer confusion and reach his or her goal. This is why the spirit and philosophy contained in Ki-gong training are so important.

Another characteristic of Ilchi Ki-gong is that infinite changes are possible within a single movement. The basic movements of this method are simple, but infinite creation and change are possible once Ki is felt within them. With music and soft energy, the sets become a dance; with breathing and gathering of Ki, they become Ki-gong; and with application of potent Ki energy, they become martial arts training in self defense.

WHOLE BODY PATTING

Meridian exercises are designed to open the meridian system of the body, and to balance the energy of their associated organs. Meridian exercises combine proper breathing with stretching movements. When breath is combined with body movement, metabolism can be influenced more effectively.

While there are hundreds of meridian exercises, as an HT tool this book will introduce several fundamental ones for maintaining our health. Whole Body Patting, Toe Tapping, Intestinal Exercises, and Abdominal Clapping are ideal for your morning and evening routine. I believe that consistent practice of meridian exercises can help maintain our health in the optimal state.

This exercise consists of patting the body to help circulation, open blockages, and release stagnant energy throughout the whole body. By patting, cells are strengthened as they are stimulated and acupressure points are opened. All age groups can do this exercise. It is a very effective method for general health. Pat the body gently and comfortably to achieve the desired results. You can concentrate better if you allow your eyes to follow your movements.

1.    Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart. Form your fingers into stiff claws and lightly tap all over your head and face.
2.    Stretch out your left arm with your palm facing up. Take your right hand and starting from the left shoulder, patrhythmically downward all the way to the left hand.
3.    Then turn your left hand over and with your right hand, pat your way back up to the left shoulder again.
4.    Repeat step 2 and step 3 with the opposite hand.
5.    Pat your chest with both hands.
6.    Starting from your chest, pat your ribs, abdomen, and sides.
7.    With both hands, pat the area just below the right rib cage where your liver is located and concentrate on radiating positive, clear energy to the liver.
8.    With both hands, tap the area just below the left rib cage where your stomach is located and concentrate on radiating positive, clear energy to your stomach.
9.    Bend over slightly from the waist, and pat the area onyour lower back (on both sides) where your kidneys are located and move up, tapping as far as your hands can reach. Then tap your way down to your buttocks.
10.    Starting from your buttocks, pat your way down the back of your legs to your ankles.
11.    From the ankles, start patting your way up the front of your legs until you reach your thighs.
12.    From your upper thighs, pat your way down the outsides of your legs to your ankles.
13.    From the ankles, pat your way up the insides of your legs to your upper thighs.
14.    Finish up by striking your lower abdomen about twenty times. This exercise is most effective when done with the legs shoulder-width apart with the knees slightly bent. side, tapping the big toes together and the pinky toes on the floor. Keep your heels together throughout the exercise. Begin with one hundred times and increase to five hundred times.

ABDOMINAL CLAPPING

Abdominal Clapping is a simple but effective method for strengthening the lower abdomen (especially Dahn-jon, your body’s energy center) by rhythmically striking (patting) it with the palms of both hands. Stimulating the area in this way facilitates the circulation of both blood and energy throughout the body. You will also feel increased warmth in the area. This exercise will assist in the prompt removal of excess gases and waste from the bodv.

1.    Spread your feet shoulder-width apart and bend your knees slightly.
2.    Point your toes slightly inward and feel a slight tightening of the lower abdomen.

Strike the lower abdomen area with both palms in rhythm, lightly bouncing your knees with each strike. Begin with only fifty strikes per session and work up to three hundred strikes as the lower abdomen is strengthened. You may increase the number and force of the strikes with more practice.

Meridian Exercises

Ilchi Lee’s Human Technology suggests that meditative experience can be deeper if preceded by stimulation and energizing our bodies and breath. We do this through “meridian exercises,” an effective way of moving our bodies to improve our breath-work and to enhance our awareness while energizing our bodies.are portals through which energy enters and exits the body.

It is easy to understand the system of meridians and acupressure points if you imagine the body as representing land. The meridians would be the main roads while the acupressure points are the bus stops. Just as goods and merchandise are transported across a highway system, our body can supply energy to the organs and different parts of the body through meridians. If energy flows well through the meridians, it is distributed evenly throughout the body, helping the body and brain to maintain their optimal conditions.

Our body consists of twelve main meridians and eight secondary meridians. The twelve main meridians are each associated with a principle internal organ and are named accordingly. These twelve meridians run on both sides, symmetrically on either side of the body. Energy flows constantly through them.

Heaven, Earth, and Human

We must also shift from being a hypocritical civilization in which ideals and reality conflict, to being an honest and conscientious one in which life is an accurate reflection of the love in our hearts. We must change from a self-destructive civilization to a self-nurturing civilization. We will change from being in a world of Russians, Arabs, Americans, and Africans, to being in a world of Earth-Humans… from a world of Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims to a world of inner spirituality.

From civilization that cannot even safely dispose of its own garbage, to a mature civilization that will pick up what it has dropped, replant where it has harvested, and put back what it has taken. From a foolish civilization where history endlessly repeats itself, to a wise civilization that realizes that the Heaven, Earth, and Human are the basis of all existence.

We will have a civilization in which individuals accept responsibility to actualize the bright light of enlightenment within each of us. We will change from a world where people live in inner isolation and fear in a sea of information, to a world where all people of the Earth will communicate freely and understand each other.

To many people, this sounds like an impossible dream. However, this is not a matter of reinventing the wheel but a matter of turning the steering wheel of the bus. It depends entirely on us.

Divided, but Ilchi Lee reminds of unity

We gather and separate repeatedly. Through the division, there’s diversity. It makes the world beautiful. But Ilchi Lee reminds us that the division is not eternal separation. We go back to the one sometime later. Our brain is the tool to go back to the origin. That’s why Brain Education is important for improving our world and reminding us that we are all part of the same whole.

Beginning with yoga, suggests Ilchi Lee

There is nowhere to start but the beginning. There’s a saying that when we begin to do something, it’s half done already. We worry about our health, but it’s hard to start to do something good.

I want suggest starting a practice like Dahn yoga. Consistent practice is the best way to take care of our body and mind. I’m sure Ilchi Lee knew that when he created the practice.

One, Ilchi, and Reality

One is the first number. It’s the beginning and also the ending at the same time.

In cosmic terms, we start from the One and go back to the One. So, One is birth and is also death. Birth and death, beginning and ending, light and dark — these are some of the essential polar opposites that make up our reality.

The Korean character “Il” means “one”, so Ilchi Lee also shows these basic principles of reality in his name. “Il Chi” means “pointing the way” in the sense of pointing to the one path, the best option, the only way to go.

Jewels from Ilchi Lee

Every jewel, which has a bright and beautiful light, has been hardened deep inside the earth. After enduring this hardship, it becomes more beautiful. Same as our soul, after we are tried in the furnace, we get stronger. Ichi Lee shows us how much stronger we can become.

Birds, Ilchi Lee, energy, and freedom of flying

Birds fly freely in the sky. When I do energy dancing, I can become a bird. I can’t become a bird physically, but I can share their energy with them, and feel an echo of their joy in flying. When I practice Dahn Yoga I can become more connected to everything and feel a sensation of sharing energy together. Ilchi Lee wants everybody to experience this, which is why he started Dahn Yoga.

Memories

Each of us knows some people who are suffering from bad memories. Perhaps they were hurt, or witnessed something terrible, or any of the other myriad reasons that we become scarred. Those memories are so painful that they can’t get away from them. I am reminded of Ilchi Lee’s training methods, which in many cases have helped people learn to overcome difficult memories and reclaim their emotional autonomy.

How Ilchi Lee Uses Music

Most people would agree that music gives us so much benefit. Soft music helps us relax, dance music gets us excited, and classical music enriches our spirit. Dahn Yoga (founded by Ilchi Lee) is usually taught in a way that focuses around the style of music used for a particular class or training — like the music, the class gives us a similarly specific benefit. Ilchi Lee always uses special music during his trainings to help audience members feel the messages and get a deeper experience of the training.

How to work with your emotions, according to Ilchi Lee’s teachings

One day, my aunt asked me how you could be so calm even somebody makes you get mad?

She said, “I can’t control my emotions and they hurt me.”

Yes I have emotions too. I get hurt when somebody is hard on me.

But the important thing is not whether I have emotions or not, but how am I dealing with it.

If I am a slave of emotions I could be miserable, but I become a master of them I can live my life much more as I wish. In my case that’s the result of Dahn Yoga and Brain Respiration, and Ilchi Lee suggested these way.

Progress and resistance, as Ilchi Lee teaches

Our belief systems often end up being quit limiting to us, when the time comes for us to expand into a new paradigm, or accept a new idea; to grow. If you want to get out of your limited beliefs in order to progress, instead of avoiding or denying pain, usually there is something you have to accept. Then change comes to you. If you resist, don’t accept what’s happening, or push back against reality, often you create more difficulty for yourself. However, the catch is that you must sometimes challenge reality in order to bring about deep and long-lasting change. You must simply trust in your intuition to know what is the right course of action for you. This is the sort of thing that Ilchi Lee teaches, and each of his students bring these truths into the world, in their own way.
