Basic three factors that created the phenomenon

I have read some books by Prof Ilchi Lee and want to share with all . Say you were typing a document on your computer when someone turned off the power switch and the document you were working on disappeared without being saved. Something disappeared, but what? The power cord is still plugged in, the program is still on the hard drive, and the hardware is as solid as ever. What disappeared? In fact, nothing. Everything is as it was before. The only thing that disappeared is the phenomenon created in a collaboration of hardware, software, and electricity. The thing disappeared is the surface phenomenon created by the workings of these three factors.

However, the basic three factors that created the phenomenon in the first place are still extant and active. Your mind is the phenomenon, as are the words in the document. In other words, the mind is not a stand-alone, quantifiable phenomenon, but an expression of the workings of the energy and the soul that have come together temporarily in this physical manifestation called the body. Therefore, “mind” is just a reflection created by the body’s brain manipulated by the deeper reality of the soul and energy.

The nothingness that is the reality of your mind is forever and unchanging. However, the surface patterns on this sea of nothingness, our emotions and thoughts, are in constant flux. We grasp at one particular segment of a pattern among countless other patterns and declare it to be “mine.” These “mine” patterns gather to weave an identity called “me.” Try to dissect this “me.” “Me” is just a collection of “mines.” We would shed blood and tears to protect and secure what is ultimately merely information, because we think that these patterns are reality.

Ilchi Ki-gong Training Method

There are several ways to train Ilchi Ki-gong. The first method is to perform the movements very slowly while feeling the energy after learning the form. Another method is to speed up, performing the movements rapidly.

Once we are comfortable with all the movements, we can practice the form from beginning to end without stopping, or we can concentrate on just one set, repeating it and getting a thorough feel for it.

One good method, as a type of Dahn-jon training, is to work the body by holding one posture for an extended period. The most common approach is to unite breathing, movement, and awareness, feeling stillness in motion and moving naturally like flowing water.

Just going through the motions as we practice Ilchi Ki-gong is virtually meaningless. It is important that we understand and appreciate the purpose of each movement.

Training Principles of Ilchi Ki-gong

Unlike ordinary Ki-gong or martial arts techniques, the lines of movement of Ilchi Ki-gong are harmonious, smooth, and very soft. Ki-gong for self defense or fighting involves many blocking and striking types of movements. Employing aggressive movements and energies without a proper philosophy is likely to lead the temperament of the practitioner in that direction as well. With Ilchi Ki-gong, if we train each movement intent on the spirit contained within it, harmonious, peaceful energies are produced, and in no time at all, our bodies and minds are suffused by the principle of harmony.

Ilchi Ki-gong is the essence of Dahnhak Ki-gong, designed so that modern people can learn it readily and yet obtain the greatest exercise benefit possible. The eight sets of Ilchi Ki-gong have a high level of perfection in terms of kinetics. Made up of movements that involve turning, pushing, pulling, raising, and lowering each part of the body, they produce a well-balanced physique.

Major movements comprise rotational motions and simple actions that involve angling the joints and squeezing out energy. Slowly performing simple movements as we gather and release Ki through respiration causes the entire body to be flushed with heat, sweat, and circulating energy.

The following table shows the relationship between body control (kinetic aspects >, breath control, and mind control achieved by practicing the eight sets of Ilchi Ki-gong.

INTESTINAL EXERCISES

Ilchi Lee suggest Intestinal Exercise refers to the rhythmic pulling in and pushing out of the abdominal wall, which stimulates the intestines. This exercise will increase the flexibility of the intestines and facilitate efficient circulation of both energy and blood. If you also tighten your rectal muscles during this exercise, you will be able to gather energy and feel warmth much more quickly. However, you should not overdo this exercise in the beginning, as it may result in some discomfort.

1.    This exercise can be performed standing up or lying down. When standing up, assume the same position as the abdominal clapping position (knees slightly bent, toes turned slightly inward). When lying down, lie on your back with your legs shoulder-width apart. Form a triangle by touching your thumbs and forefingers together, and place them lightly on the lower abdomen.
2.    When pulling in, pull as if the front wall of your abdomen is trying to touch your back. Tighten your rectal muscles at the same time.
3.    Then, as if sucking air out of a balloon, push your lower abdomen out slightly, until you feel outward pressure in your lower abdomen.
4.    Start with one set of fifty and work your way up to a set of three hundred as you advance.

Divided, but Ilchi Lee reminds of unity

We gather and separate repeatedly. Through the division, there’s diversity. It makes the world beautiful. But Ilchi Lee reminds us that the division is not eternal separation. We go back to the one sometime later. Our brain is the tool to go back to the origin. That’s why Brain Education is important for improving our world and reminding us that we are all part of the same whole.

Jewels from Ilchi Lee

Every jewel, which has a bright and beautiful light, has been hardened deep inside the earth. After enduring this hardship, it becomes more beautiful. Same as our soul, after we are tried in the furnace, we get stronger. Ichi Lee shows us how much stronger we can become.

How Ilchi Lee Uses Music

Most people would agree that music gives us so much benefit. Soft music helps us relax, dance music gets us excited, and classical music enriches our spirit. Dahn Yoga (founded by Ilchi Lee) is usually taught in a way that focuses around the style of music used for a particular class or training — like the music, the class gives us a similarly specific benefit. Ilchi Lee always uses special music during his trainings to help audience members feel the messages and get a deeper experience of the training.

How to work with your emotions, according to Ilchi Lee’s teachings

One day, my aunt asked me how you could be so calm even somebody makes you get mad?

She said, “I can’t control my emotions and they hurt me.”

Yes I have emotions too. I get hurt when somebody is hard on me.

But the important thing is not whether I have emotions or not, but how am I dealing with it.

If I am a slave of emotions I could be miserable, but I become a master of them I can live my life much more as I wish. In my case that’s the result of Dahn Yoga and Brain Respiration, and Ilchi Lee suggested these way.

The Moon and Ilchi Lee

For centuries, human beings desired to get to the moon. We created different kinds of aircraft, and kept launching these physical manifestations of our dreams. Eventually, we succeeded in breaking our limitations, overcoming gravity, and showing ourselves that anything is possible. Ilchi Lee has been working to bring peace in this Earth, and has brought many hopes to fruition.

Ilchi Lee : International Brain Education Association

For long time, many enlightened people have taught that the truth is not far away. That can be sought from our body. Buddhism taught it too. The best way to live our life the way we intend is to start from our body. Many great leaders are very active physically and mentally. Also they have their own inspirations through direct or indirect experiences. But not all of us are that healthy. So we need to practice to empower ourself to the level of great leaders. Brain Education is great for that purpose. It includes many things for all of physical, mental and spiritual growth.

Now there are many branches of IBREA (International Brain Education Association) over the world. Have you heard about IBREA or Brain Education? I’m confident on that ‘Brain Education’ will be very popular over the world because I think that is the only solution to all problems we have on Earth. Especially if you are working on something related to education, you can get lots of help for that.

Ilchi lee summarizes what he has experienced and taught for last 25 years as ‘Brain Education’. I hope you can get lots of help for your creative, productive and peaceful life.

Ilchi Lee: Michelle Rhee’s love for children

Today, I watched one hour video clip on ‘Michelle A. Rhee’, current chancellor of Washington, DC. It was so impressive and touching because I could feel lots of her love for children, conviction, passion. For one hour of watching, whether she shows up or not in the screen, I could feel something and I almost shed tears. She is a really professional with love full in her heart and also great mom of two daughters.

Naturally I could look over my life. What vision do I have? How much of enthusiasm, belief and confidence do I have for that vision?

Ilchi lee says, successful life doesnot depends on the knowledge or talent of a person but belief, conviction, passion, etc.

Now I’m doing a daily exercise to energize and change myself. I’m confident on it. Day by day, I will change. I want to speed up my daily changing with love for all. Let’s do it~

A sunshine brain

Have you ever just sat in the rays of the sun letting your head and brain soak up the light and the heat?

Ilchi Lee says that the brain should be full of light. When I do some meditations, I try to feel the sun in my brain, lighting it up and throwing all of the darkness out. After doing this, I feel lighter and better. As I go through my day, if I bring the sun into my brain, I can feel more freshed and focused. All of the negative thoughts that I had vanish. It sounds like hokey magic, I know, but it’s amazing what some simple visualizations can do for my mood :)

Stress in the Classroom

I’m enjoying www.brains.org today. I found this article about stress. It demonstrates a need for the Brain Education program in classrooms. It really applies to every situation however. I think stress really comes from fear (fight or flight reaction of the autonomic nervous system). Do we want to base our decisions and our lives on fear?

Stress is more than just uncomfortable, it’s dangerous to the mind and body. In addition to increasing health problems, chronic stress causes problems with our memory systems, blood pressure, problem solving skills, and thought processes in that decision-making region of the brain known as the prefrontal cortex.

Although some teachers feel stress is an inevitable part of the education process, research shows it can actually undermine the learning process. Stress in the classroom or elsewhere, releases a chemical called TMT* into the brain. TMT disrupts working memory and reduces a person’s desire to explore new ideas and creatively solve problems. While students under stress will work “harder”, the quality of the work decreases. The higher the stress, the worse the results. Short term memory is crippled, the student has a difficult time retrieving previous information from memory and decision making ability decreases.

Obviously, we wouldn’t want to remove all stress from life, as a small amount can help keep arousal levels high enough to complete a task. But large amounts, particularly when the stress causes accompanying feelings of fear and anxiety, are dangerous and work against the learning process.

Be careful in the classroom. A little excitement and encouragement built on a strong foundation of trust and care can help build enthusiasm for doing well. An environment perceived as intimidating, frightening and overwhelming can shut the learning process down.

Dr. Wesson at the 3rd Annual Brain HSP Olympiad

At the 3rd Annual International Brain HSP Olympiad hosted by Ilchi Lee on August 10-12, Dr. Wesson gave a lot of anatomical and functional background information supporting his idea of what kids really need from education today. The Brain  Education program supports all of these things. They included physical involvement (including movement and hand-on experience), emotional engagement, time allowed for internal dialogue, interactive discourse, and a non-threatening environment open to idea exchange. Sounds good to me. It also sounds like adults need these things too. He also said that people need hands-on contact, i.e. hugs, at least 16 times a day to be emotionally healthy. I don’t think most people get that much. Could explain a lot of conflict in the world today. It’s helpful when you’re work environment encourages hugs :)

Being True Professionals in Teaching

This is something Ilchi Lee wrote about teaching. It seems kind of obvious if you think about it, but I’m glad he made me think about it. Maybe the converse would be that you can teach to someone well anything that comes spontaneous and natural to you in that moment.

To become a true professional in teaching, you should make every effort until teaching comes so natural that it becomes one with yourself.
There are four levels of teaching.
The first level is to know what and how to teach.
At this stage, one only knows in theory and conveys ideas in words.
The second level of teaching comes with showing examples in person, not just with words.
The third level is to keep practicing the second level of teaching continuously.
The final level is to become a true professional in teaching. At this final stage, teaching comes spontaneously and naturally and it becomes one with the teacher.
When reaching this final level, one will come to know the principles
of loving all creation in the universe.

laughter as inspiration

Good morning again! I seem to find myself posting in the morning often. Today as I drank some delicious peach juice, I found myself wondering about the inspirational power of laughter. What do you think?

Education!

This might be the best thing I’ve seen all day:

next best thing...

Education or wisdom?

Smith College (www.smith.edu) is a well-respected educational institution. While browsing their departmental webpages, I was struck by this image on the Education page:

student through bookcase

What does it say to you? Does it inspire you to study? To fill your brain with information? To learn how to educate others? Or does it inspire you to find your own inspiration in teaching, learning, and becoming truly wise?

trust the life process

How can we become centered in our choices, trusting our life experience instead of our formal education? Upon this distinction depends our happiness, I believe.
