Power Brain Education Teaches BE in Schools

Power Brain Girls

Ilchi Lee’s Brain Education System Training is used by many individuals and organizations to help others achieve overall wellness. Founded in 2006, Power Brain Education is one of those organizations. Located in Bayside, Queens, New York City, Power Brain Education teaches its curriculum through a “variety of innovative on and off-site trainings to more than five hundred schools, businesses, senior centers, non-profits and community organizations in the United States.” It’s main project is the Brain Education School Project, which focuses on helping schools incorporate a 15-lesson program into their curriculum. To date, 330 schools, 10,000 teachers, and 50,000 students have been trained in Brain Education for Enhanced Learning (BEL).

BEL consists of “physical, emotional and cognitive exercises, games, dances, songs, drawings, writing and reflection, all based on 15 themes of brain utilization. Lessons focus on themes such as body & brain awareness, nutrition and the brain, improving concentration, mind-body connection, emotional control, confidence building, environmental consciousness and life purpose,” according to Power Brain Education’s blog: http://blog.powerbrainedu.com/

Teachers, parents, and social service professionals such as social workers, psychologists, therapists, etc, learn to teach BEL at the BE Teacher’s Workshop. They can then adapt the program to their specific needs. Let’s see the experiences and perspectives of two Bronx public school principals who have used BEL, and who were able to improve students’ focus and behavior problems, and the teachers’ ability to communicate with students:

Public Schools in the Bronx, NY use Brain Education to help improve students performance

BEL is now also taught outside of schools and homes at the first Power Brain Training Center, also located in Bayside. For more information about the center, you can visit www.powerbraintraining.com.

You can keep up with Power Brain Education through their Facebook Fan Page.

If you have experienced BEL yourself, why don’t you share your experiences here.

Just 100 Million

All of humanity has a shared spiritual heritage, which is only natural because we all came from One. Realizing the Oneness of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity is not an intellectual or even philosophical endeavor. You need to feel it with every single fiber of your being, imprinted onto every one of your cells through profound experience of energy. That’s why Ilchi Lee developed Brain Education and has worked for 30 years to share it with the world.

He knows that only when enough people experience Oneness can we really come together as a society, as a people, and as Earth Citizens. The time for the chosen few is over. The whole of humanity needs to realize the truth for us to change the fortune of the human race.

But we can start with one hundred million. One hundred million is a critical mass, just a little more than one percent of the total population of the Earth, the tipping point to a mass realization of every individual’s true nature and for what we should live–love for humanity and love for the Earth. Instead of killing and competition, this strong community of Earth Citizens Ilchi Lee has been working to form will engage in acts of healing to uplift our collective human consciousness until we are indeed living in Heaven on Earth.

To realize this dream of a spiritual civilization and peaceful Earth requires the will, discipline, and fortitude to see it through to its completion. It also requires training people so that they can experience Oneness and have the strength and ability to share it with others. These people will raise the consciousness of 100 million Earth Citizens and gather them together in one exemplary community.

Headache Relief from Brain Education

Sometimes it can seem to come out of nowhere like a blinding flash of pain, other times it starts with a dull ache and gradually builds until it is unbearable. A headache, whether it is common or a migraine, usually has its roots in tension caused by stress or poor posture. It begins when the energy flow of your body is reversed. The natural flow of energy in your body is cool energy flowing up to your head from your kidneys and warm energy flowing down from your heart to your lower abdomen. When warm energy flows to the head, your head can feel hot and blocked, causing a headache.

You can do a quick self-check of your energy flow by putting one hand on the back of your neck and the other on your lower abdomen (Dahn Jon). If your neck is warmer, your energy flow is reversed.
When you have a headache or other symptoms of reverse energy flow, you can do some of these Brain Education exercises to bring the hot energy down from your head and feel better.

Two acupressure points you can press at the start of a headache are the Gallbladder 20 (PoongJi) points at the base of your skull in the back of your head. Press up into your skull strongly with your thumbs at these points. Repeat until you feel your pain lessen or disappear entirely.

Toe Tapping
Toe tapping restores the natural flow of energy in the body and helps you sleep more deeply and restfully.

  1. Lie down on your back with your heels together and ankles flexed.
  2. Tap your big toes together, then open your feet so that your little toes tap the floor. Repeat as rapidly as you can.
  3. Begin with 100 repetitions and increase the number as you practice.

Pressing Temple (Tae-Yang) Acupressure Points

  1. Using your thumbs, press your temples five times slowly.
  2. Then using the pad of your hands, tap your temples thirty times.

Holding strong postures designed to draw energy down from your head, such as Sleeping Tiger, are also effective for relieving headaches. Sleeping Tiger is a lying posture done on your back with your arms straight up into the air, elbows bent slightly and wrists bent at right angles so that the palms face the ceiling. The legs are also raised with the hip, knee, and ankle joints at 90-degree angles. Stay relaxed and focused on the lower abdomen. Exhale through the mouth while you hold the posture. Start with holding it for five minutes if you can, and then increase the amount of time as the posture becomes easier.

While holding the posture, you may experience various sensations such as muscle fatigue, joint pain, heat, cold, burning, shaking, and vibrating. You may also experience emotional responses such as anxiety, fear, calm, and peace. These sensations often change. Within reason, it’s best to hold the posture for as long as possible. Ilchi Lee advises, “Try to enjoy these physical responses, as they are actually positive signs that the body is releasing toxic energy and becoming healthy and strong.” The emotional responses are also signs that blockages unhealthy energy is clearing.

To help prevent headaches from beginning in the first place, strengthen the energy center in your lower abdomen (Dahn Jon) with ongoing practice. Intestine Exercise, Dahn Jon Tapping, Sit-ups, and Jung Choong Breathing are very effective for creating and maintaining a strong center and a healthy energy state. Whenever you do these exercises, keep your mind focused on your dahn-jon, which is two inches below your navel and two inches inside your abdomen.

Intestine Exercise
Benefits: This exercise will increase the flexibility of the intestines and facilitate efficient circulation of both energy and blood. If you also tighten your rectal muscles during this exercise, you will be able to gather energy and feel warmth much more quickly.
Note: You should not overdo this exercise in the beginning since it may result in some discomfort.

  1. This exercise can be performed standing up or lying down. When standing up, keep your knees slightly bent and toes turned slightly inward. When lying down, lie on your back with your legs shoulder-width apart.
  2. Form a triangle by touching your thumbs and forefingers together and place them lightly on the lower abdomen.
  3. When pulling in, pull as if the front wall of your abdomen is trying to touch your back. Tighten your rectal muscles at the same time.
  4. Then, push your lower abdomen out slightly, making it more round. You will feel outward pressure in your lower abdomen.
  5. Repeat the movement. Start with one set of 50 and work your way up to a set of 300 as you advance.

Dahn-jon Tapping
Benefits: By rhythmically patting the lower abdomen with the palms of both hands, blood and energy is distributed throughout the entire body. Abdominal exercises will assist in the prompt removal of excess gases and waste from the body, and you will feel increased warmth in the Dahn-jon, as well.

  1. Spread your feet shoulder-width apart and bend your knees slightly.
  2. Lengthen and relax your spine. Relax your shoulders, neck, and arms.
  3. Point your toes slightly inward and feel a slight tightening of the lower abdomen.
  4. Rhythmically strike the lower abdomen area with both palms.
  5. Begin with 100 strikes. You may increase the number and force of the strikes with more practice.

Ilchi Lee’s Tip for Negative Emotions

Ilchi Lee spends most of his time devising simple yet practical ways to help people manage their lives more easily and effectively. Some of these ways he put in his book, Principles of Brain Management: A Practical Approach to Making the Most of Your Brain.

Here is one tip from the book for managing negative emotions:

“It may be difficult at first to redirect your emotions in a positive direction. You may find yourself returning to the destructive emotion, even after you have made up your mind to change. Remember, though, that it is just a habit of the brain that keeps bringing you back to that point. As with any habit, it will take time to practice and break it.

To keep yourself on the positive track, find a way to remind yourself of the constructive action that will replace the negative emotion. For example, you might want to get a small stone and write an inspiring word on it. Or wear a ring that reminds you of your promise to yourself. Every time you see it, your mind will be redirected in a more positive direction.”

Ilchi Lee’s Martial Art Form, DahnMuDo, Now on DVD!

Before his enlightenment, Ilchi Lee was actually a black belt in Tae Kwon Do from a young age. As an adult, he ran a physical health training center for a little while that included martial arts. After his enlightenment, one of the training methods he developed to help people feel the universal principles to which he had been enlightened was a non-combative, healing martial art he called DahnMuDo.

DahnMuDo, like other Brain Education methods, establishes the proper, healthy flow of ki energy in the body, which leads to optimal health of body, mind, and spirit. Students of DahnMuDo develop lower bodies that are both physically and energetically strong. Their upper bodies feel unburdened and relaxed, with energy that feels diffuse and merged with universal energy. Their posture becomes straighter as their bones and muscles become aligned. Their dahn-jon, or core, becomes very strong and supportive of their hearts and brain.

There has been great demand for a training aid that DahnMuDo students can use to learn and study at home. Now the publisher of Ilchi Lee’s products, BEST Life Media, has created a 3-DVD set to supply that demand. The trainer on the DVD is Master Owoon, the leading DahnMuDo trainer who developed the DahnMuDo School curriculum and who manages DahnMuDo training around the world. In the DVDs, Master Owoon not only teaches students the proper DahnMuDo forms, but gives profound insight and instruction into energy principles not often heard elsewhere.

The DVD set will be available on September 30, 2009, but BEST Life Media is offering pre-shipping for pre-orders on their website. In the meantime, you can get a brief taste from this trailer:

The Traditional Games Information By Ilchi Lee Brain Education

3-6-9 Games:

01. Sit or stand across from your partner. Or, if three or more are participating, stand or sit in a circle.

02. Each person counts a number, starting with 1. However, if your number contains a 3, 6, or 9, you must clap instead of saying the number (e.g., 9, 16, 32, etc.). If the number has more than one 3, 6, or 9, or a combination of these numbers (e.g., 66, 93, 36, etc.), you must clap twice.

Energy Ball:

01. Sit comfortably with your back straight, preferably in the cross-legged position. Relax your shoulders and tilt your head slightly downward. Place your palms facing upward on the knees.

02. Close your eyes and focus on the surface of the palms. Feel any sensation on the surface of the palms, perhaps tingling or warmth.

03. Gently lift the palms up from the knees and slowly bring the palms closer together until they are about 2 inches apart.

04. Focus on the sensation between the palms. Inhale and slowly draw the hands apart, feeling the sensation growing between the palms. Exhale and feel the “ball” shrink between your hands.

05. Continue to follow the breath as you grow and shrink the energy ball.

Clapping Games by Ilchi Lee Earth Citizen

Girls in the schoolyard traditionally play clapping games such as these, but they are just as valuable for boys as for girls, as they develop concentration and a sense of rhythm. Try playing these games with your child to pass the time when waiting in line.

01. Sit on the floor.

02. Clap your hands once in front of the chest and then once on the floor.

03. Clap once again in front of the chest, and then twice on the floor.

04. Clap once again in front of the chest, and then 3 times on the floor.

05. Now clap once in front of the chest, and twice on the floor.

06. And again, clap once in front of the chest and once on the floor.

07. Continue to follow the 1-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-1 sequence of clapping, seeing how long you can maintain the rhythm. To add a challenge, try slowly increasing the speed.

Count and Clap Game:

01. Sit or stand across from a partner.

02. Clap once near the chest and then once on your partner’s palms.

03. Repeat, but this time clapping twice on your partner’s palms.

04. Continue, each time adding another clap on the palms. For maximum concentration, count the numbers silently.

ilchi lee brain art festival Matching Games

This is a version of te old card-matching game. Even if yor child has mastered store-bought versions, they may find the geometric shapes in this version a little more challenging.

Preparation: On one side of thick card stock, draw images of different shapes in various colors-green triangles, orange circles, red squares, etc. Each image will have a matching image on another card to form pairs of matching cards. Draw the images in crayon or some other medium that will not show through on the other side. Alternatively, you can choose pairs of images from computer clip art or photocopied images from magazines to create the cards.

01. Shuffle the cards and place them face down on a table or at various places around the room.

02. Take turns trying to find matching pairs. During a turn, you may flip two cards. If they match, take both cards and try again. If they do not match, the cards must be turned back over and the next person can give it a try. You can see the cards turned over by others and try to remember their locations.

03. The game continues until all matching sets have been revealed. Whoever has the most cards “wins.”

Take a Trip into the Brain Stem through Vibration

Place your hands, palms up, on your knees. Focus the light of your awareness onto your hands. Hands, hands, and hands. Imagine that heavy rocks are weighing down your hands in place. Silently count to one and raise your hands to your chest, only to let them sink to your knees with a silent two. One, up. Two, down. And repeat. Only through simple, repetitive movements will you allow your neocortex to momentarily stop. Now completely relax your shoulders and feel the heaviness of your hands as they lie on your knees. Feel them getting heavier until they are completely attached to the knees.

Prof Lee says you are now in complete relaxation and comfort. In this relaxed state, just concentrate on your breathing only. You feel your neocortex go silent and sense the restlessness of the cerebral limbic system. Your awareness is now at this layer. The cerebral limbic system is gently shaking in the flow of the vibration that is emitted by the brain stem. You can now feel with an immediacy you have not felt before the myriad emotions that have been locked into the cerebral limbic system. Let them out now. All the loneliness, hurt, and sorrows. Let them all out right now. Let the tears flow if they will, for through the tears the cerebral limbic system is being cleansed.

Breathe in … and out.

Power of your mind

All about Ilchi Lee expert dahnhak and writer of book “Healing Society”

Now try creating a ball of energy with your mind. Imagine that you are holding a bright ball of light in your hands. Feel the texture of this ball, its contours, and its perfectly round shape. Make it grow and make it shrink. Play around with it gently, never letting the sensation disappear. You have just made this energy through nothing more than the power of your mind. You willed it, and the surrounding energy came together to form a ball. Be in awe of the power of your mind.

All life is in constant motion. Even rocks and mountains are in constant vibration. Every existence is dancing to the rhythm of the Cosmic Order. Life celebrates itself through constant vibration. And through vibration we can enter into the brain stem. You will experience the reality of your life in your brain stem.

Collective awareness

Posted by: Ilchi Lee

When our collective awareness has evolved high enough to affect this shift, then we will feel the great universal love that has always enveloped us. This is the reason for an Enlightenment Revolution.
Just just tweaking the system here and there cannot cure the ills of this society. It is futile to pass more laws, no matter how fair-minded and well intentioned, to solve today’s problems, because they seek to work without changing the whole paradigm. Politics, economies, cultures, and religions all have professed to seek love, harmony, and cooperation, but have failed because they could not go beyond the competition paradigm with which we all have been burdened. Therefore, each one of these professes to be the only “correct way” or the only “direct line to God” and deride and despise the “others” for not agreeing.

This will not do anymore. In order to bring about an upshift in collective human consciousness, we need an impetus, a Spiritual-Cultural Movement that will awaken people to their divinity within. Prof Lee suggests this movement will start with each one of us feeling our connection to the cosmos in such an undeniable way that we could never again forget that we are truly One.

Safety, recognition, and control

by Prof Ilchi Lee

We give in to our needs for safety, recognition, and control when we have lost touch with the greater safety that the realization of Oneness can provide. We give in to our petty needs when we lose sense of our spiritual umbilical cord and immerse ourselves in this competition-driven society, deluding ourselves that competition is the fairest form of collective interaction, that the strongest and best should prosper—that it should be the “survival of the fittest.” And through this constant, ruthless competition, we have lost an overall sense of cooperation, trust, and harmony while constantly being fearful and anxious, no matter how much wealth or status we have accumulated. We will never truly be rid of our fear and anxiety unless we consciously reestablish this connection between the cosmos and ourselves.

Ilchi Lee recommends that only when this system of self-worth through competition changes into self-worth through harmony will we create a truly happy and fair society. This requires a revolution in spirituality—a mass enlightenment that can shift the sense of what living is all about. We have to shift the competitive social paradigm that has governed us since the beginning of recorded history.

Physical and mental manifestations

Posted by: Ilchi Lee Prof

You have a higher spiritual existence—your True Self. Your current physical and mental manifestations are here only to serve the purpose of your spiritual master, your True Self, as part of a healing and completing process of cosmic harmony and balance. Do not sell yourself short.

When you let your True Self guide you, you are letting Jesus or Buddha himself guide your life. You are letting God be your personal guide, because all of us have the divine inside us.

Ilchi Lee Prof says when you feel your True Self, you will first feel an appreciation for everything around you. You will appreciate that you are able to open your eyes every morning. You will appreciate the intake of every breath. You will be thankful for movements in your arms and legs.

Good detective stories

Ilchi lee writer of books like Healing Society and Brain education, he writes that the same goes for your mind. Even those of us who are aware that our bodies are not truly us, often mistakenly believe that our minds are what we truly are. Wrong! You’re personality, your knowledge, your wisdom, your emotional makeup, your thoughts, your method of deduction and induction, all these are not who you truly are. You are not a quick-tempered Latino male with a penchant for computer programming who enjoys football games on weekends and good detective stories.

You are not a patient, virtuous woman who has good judgment and shrewd mind when it comes to “too good to be true” offers. These characteristics are not you. You are not here on this Earth in human form to be some kind of a cosmic newspaper personal ad. Do not reduce yourself to what your body and mind consist of. You are far greater than that. You are eternal. You are infinite. Your True Self is the cosmos itself. Don’t ever fall into the trap of thinking that you are your physical and mental self.

Precious and useful property

These lines written by Prof Ilchi Lee

Do not be a slave to either your body or your mind. The true master of you is your True Self. Most of us are trapped behind this mistaken belief that our bodies are us, that our faces, races, ethnic groups, height, girth, aches, and pains are actually us. No. An emphatic no! Your body is yours, not you. You are here to utilize the body you happened to be born with in this lifetime for whatever purposes that your True Self has in store for you.

Your body is a precious and useful property, nothing more. When you are done with your current life, you throw it away and move on. Your physical body is not the reason for which you are born, no matter how beautiful or strong. Prof Lee says if you live through your life thinking that your body is what you are, you are a slave to the needs and appetites of your body, and will seek to satisfy those until you die. Instead of mastering your body, you will have spent your entire life being mastered by your body.

My True Self

Published by: Ilchi lee

Think back. What have I done today? Whom have I met? Have I committed any deceit? Have I hidden my True Self again? Have I represented myself falsely? Have I been truly honest with myself and with others? When you can answer yes to this last question, you are on your way to cleaning out all the dirt you have so far accumulated.

Ilchi Lee writes the road to your True Self lies not through logic and calculations, but through choice and discipline—the conscious choice to take that road, and the discipline to stay on it in the face of obstacles. So, sweep off the dirt and the grime that’s pretending to be you. Let your True Self shine through.

Repeat the following:

My body is mine, not me.
My mind is mine, not me.

SMILING MEDITATION

Suggested by Ilchi Lee

The act of smiling produces positive changes in your brain. This exercise combines that fact with a relaxing meditative exercise.

Sit comfortably and shrug your shoulders up and down several times to relax.

Breathe in and out several times, massaging your face to release the tension in your facial muscles. Breathe in, close your eves gently, and breathe out while forming a slight smile. Breathe in and out deeply and naturally.

Prof Lee says that when breathing out, combine your exhale with a widening smile. Repeat this several times, focusing on the motion of the smile on your face as a light breath escapes through your lips like a gentle wind.

Slowly shift your consciousness to your brain and feel your brain become lighter and more refreshed when you breathe out with a smile.
