When pursuing an advanced degree, some people choose a major that offers a number of opportunities, in order to ensure that they have higher chances of employment within a difficult market. The unemployment rate is so high, having credentials that can fit into a number of positions could be key.

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) announced that it will offer a new bachelor's of arts degree in communications with concentrations in public relations and professional writing. The curriculum will be offered completely online as a way to help nontraditional students, who may not otherwise have the chance to attend school, reach a further education attainment.

School officials say that they are offering these programs as a way to open a number of job opportunities to students, as these specializations can be used in a variety of different fields.
