You Decide

As we near the end of our journey together, you will be making decisions about your future—what purpose to pursue, how to live, how to be. You will, of course, try to make good decisions, but here is more good news: As a result of Brain Mastering, you will find yourself becoming more decisive. Because you see clearly—perhaps for the first time—who you truly are and what your potential is, you know what your path should be. You will not hesitate out of fear. You will make sound decisions with confidence and act without apprehension.

Because of this new confidence in your own decision-making ability, you will also find that you are able to form more peaceful relationships. When you are happier with yourself, you will feel no need to engage in arguments or to contest others’ views of life. Comfortable in your newer self-knowledge, you will feel at peace to engage others on a level of tolerance, understanding, and giving. You will discover that you want not to be right, but to inspire. People who go through BEST often become very interested in helping people.

As you continue writhe a daily practice of Brain Education System Training, you will continue to develop your mind. Your spirit will mature and evolve. You will live your best life. It doesn’t matter whether you are forty, sixty, or past eighty. Your brain is always changing and holds within its cells limitless possibilities for growth and joy.

Brain Versatilizing

The second step of BEST, Brain Versatility, is a process designed to help you develop a flexible and vibrant brain faster and more effectively than crossword puzzles and cross-stitching.

Brain Versatilizing is about challenging your brain to master new tasks and to become more adaptable and flexible. Through this practice, you will find yourself freed from rigid habits and modes of thinking and you will become more open to new information. Your brain will become a fluid instrument responsive to your commands. One of the greatest benefits of this is that you can break destructive habits such as smoking, losing your temper, or eating unhealthy foods. Habits are difficult to break because thev become hard-wired into the brain in those deeply furrowed pathways we mentioned earlier. But in Brain Versatilizing you break up those pathways and bypass them with new ones. At advanced levels, you can actually change deeply ingrained biases and prejudices to develop a more open mind. What a gift! You will find that your cognitive experience is expanded and that learning new tasks becomes almost automatic. Your awareness will become wider as you activate areas of your brain that have been largely quiescent tor years. We call this expanding the window7 of consciousness.

The Rewards of Age

Of course, science is also showing us that age is more than a series of brain breakdowns that can be prevented only through diligent work and advanced cognition. Time also brings subtle vet meaningful positive changes to the brain, acquired through years of experience, that add to the qualitv of life. Dr. Gene Cohen, founding director of the Center on Aging, Health, and Humanities at George Washington University Medical Center, has discovered that the changes that come with aging actually make adults more able, as he writes, to “fulfill our own dreams.”

Cohen found that though neurons lose processing speed as they age, they also have learned far more than young brains. This learning is represented physically in the dense maze of neural connections to be seen in an older brain. Cohen writes, “Magnified tremendously, the brain of a mentally active fifty-year-old looks like a dense forest of interlocking branches, ;and this density reflects both deeper knowledge and better judgment. That’s why age is such an advantage in fields like editing, law, medicine, coaching, and management. There is no substitute for acquired learning.”

You could call that the acquisition of wisdom. Cohen points out that with age our brains become in some ways less rigid and more adaptable, so that left-brained linear thinking and right-brained creativity are not as separate as they once were. Older people tend to use both sides of their brains more to solve problems, and are better at merging intuition with hard data to arrive at a conclusion. There is a reason why most CEOs are over fifty.

They trust their gut but also rely on their logic for confirmation.

In addition, research has shown that older adults’ brains show more emotional equanimity. The primitive part of the brain that brings out the fear response toward anything unknown becomes more dormant and positive feelings tend to replace negative attitudes. This is doubtless the source of emotional maturity, and it is related to one of the greatest rewards of the later years: deeper, more compelling personal relationships.

Studies show that people with strong social networks in the last one-third of life live longer, experience fewer health problems, and feel a greater sense of well-being than those who do not. Being with others is great for your health and your brain. One of the reasons for this is the damaging effect that stress, depression, and social isolation have on the brain. Chronic stress produces elevated levels of the hormone cortical, which actually shrinks the memory centers in the brain and kills memory neurons. On the other hand, a recent UCLA study showed that when women of any age get together they produce more of the hormone Oxycontin, which creates feelings of bonding and belonging. So deep, satisfying relationships—with circles of friends who go back decades, with fellow members of spiritually oriented centers and activist organizations, or with family members—are magic for alleviating stress and creating feelings of pleasure that bathe vour brain in health.

Divided, but Ilchi Lee reminds of unity

We gather and separate repeatedly. Through the division, there’s diversity. It makes the world beautiful. But Ilchi Lee reminds us that the division is not eternal separation. We go back to the one sometime later. Our brain is the tool to go back to the origin. That’s why Brain Education is important for improving our world and reminding us that we are all part of the same whole.

Feeling the Earth Exercise

Imagine that you are traveling to other planets in outer space in the distant future. Imagine you meet with extraterrestrials and they ask you where you are from. What are you going to say? Are you going to say that you are from New York or Tokyo? Not likely. Most probably, you will say that you are from the Earth. Earth is the only answer because Earth is the common identity that we share with each other. It is much more basic than our nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. Ilchi Lee tells that we are Earth-Humans before we are Americans, Chinese, or Indians. All the values and visions that we have been in search of are impossible without the Earth, for Earth is the root of all little.

In fact, Earth is just a tiny insignificant part of the universe, a tiny planet of a tiny solar system in one of the many millions of galaxies that exist in the universe. Likewise, one individual is not a significant entity when you consider the whole Earth. Human beings are just one of many life forms that call the Earth home. However, when we consciously commune with the soul of the Earth, we transform ourselves into guardians of her incredible beauty, feeling overwhelming love and responsibility tor the Earth. Communing with the Earth is an amazing experience of expanding awareness. When you realize that you are an Earth-Human, you can overcome nationalism, group egotism, religious prejudice, and ethnic superiority. You will realize that everything is One, not in the abstract sense of the word, but because we are all interconnected with the Earth.

The Feeling the Earth Exercise allows you to commune with, and become one with, the soul of the Earth. You will find that the Earth is no longer a material, lifeless object, but a living being, filled with energy and soul… then you will have expanded your awareness and developed strength to heal yourself and others.

Express Your Vision Through Your Body

How do we reinforce information so that it becomes decisive information capable of calling forth the energy of life that animates the cosmos? The best and most effective way according to Prof. Ilchi Lee views is to express it through our actions and behaviors. For information acquired through experience is far more believable than information obtained by rote learning. When our words and actions become one and the same, then the nature of the experience will be permanently etched into our brain.

During Yoga Practice when the information is proven beyond doubt, it will move into the realm of the brain stem. Here it will become intertwined with other crucial information, such as the nature of our beating hearts, and the revolving of the earth around the sun… with the cosmic network of information that drives the universe itself. Since the brain stem taps into the ultimate power source of the cosmos, when you affect the brain stem, you influence the universe. You are moving “Heaven and Earth” toward your vision.

Self-Creation Exercise

The Self-Creation Exercise involves the development of a creative, peaceful, and productive brain by supplying it with information from of your True Self. This Doctor Ilchi Lee information reveals what your soul truly wants to be and create. You are now in the final stages of a process in which you, the true master of your own brain, are transforming your brain into a Power Brain for DahnHak.

The new identity you have chosen for yourself, along with your vision, are best practiced in your everyday life. We define who we are through our actions. Our actions are the result of information in our brain. And the information in our brain is reaffirmed by our actions. A cycle of mutual reinforcement is established, in which the “enlightening” information in our brain induces a type of behavior that is Hong-Ik, which in turn reinforces our identity as a Hong-Ik person.

When information first comes into the brain, it is unverified. The brain does not have full trust or confidence in this piece of information and thereby does not translate it into action. When the brain comes to trust that information, it translates it into action. The information is worthy ot action. When the information is expressed as action and has proven its worth, it finally attains the status of decisive information. Decisive information has the power to stimulate the brain stem directly, if it is warranted. Such decisive information has the ability to call forth all the energy we have, for this type of information forms the basis of our identity. Therefore, it is crucial for our new identity to be verified information. It has to attain the status of decisive information through repeated reinforcement.

Basic Types of Prayer

There are four basic types of prayer explained by Ilchi Lee, depending on our level of consciousness. The first type is the Prayer of Penitence, the second is the Prayer of Forgiveness, the third is the Prayer of Gratitude and the fourth is the Prayer of Vision. What type of prayer are you engaged in right now?

Genuine prayer begins only when you have developed the ability to observe your own faults and have the courage to acknowledge these faults. This is on the level of the Prayer of Penitence. With maturity and growth, the Prayer ot Penitence will become the Prayer of Forgiveness followed by the Prayer of Gratitude. When newly found joy and appreciation for life till your heart, you will have achieved enough spiritual growth ro pray for the benefit of all. This is the Prayer of Vision. To pray tor an end to the suffering of all life on Earth, to pray for the deliverance of all people of the Earth, to pray for an end to the Earth’< problems as if they were one’s own… this is the prayer of a person.

Prayer of Vision is a prayer of creativity and strength. It is not passive whimpering in the face of an insurmountable obstacle. Ultimately, your whole life becomes one living Prayer of Vision. The strongest prayers do not doubt that they will be heard and answered. And the most important role of our brain is to help us fulfill our visions and dreams. Pursuit of a vision will awaken our brain’s innate potential, enhance our belief in ourselves, and make a reality of the visions we all share in our spiritual Oneness.

One, Ilchi, and Reality

One is the first number. It’s the beginning and also the ending at the same time.

In cosmic terms, we start from the One and go back to the One. So, One is birth and is also death. Birth and death, beginning and ending, light and dark — these are some of the essential polar opposites that make up our reality.

The Korean character “Il” means “one”, so Ilchi Lee also shows these basic principles of reality in his name. “Il Chi” means “pointing the way” in the sense of pointing to the one path, the best option, the only way to go.

Fortune, Ilchi Lee, and successful brains

We easily think that the successful people are fortunate and gifted.

But they trained their brain to be a successful brain. Their good fortune doesn’t come all at once. As Ilchi Lee teaches, it will come when we have trained and prepared.
