Medicine hands
“My hands are medicine hands. My hands are medicine hands.” my mom used to rub my belly and sing with her soft and lower tone of voice when I had stomachache. No medicine was given yet her warm hands did miracle on my achy belly. Thanks to my mom’s and older generation’s wisdom, I hardly take any medicine although I feel sick. I rather try traditional herbal medicine or holistic remedies to ease my discomfort if I have any. I wonder why we almost lost the ability to heal ourselves. I know my brain can heal my body and mind, naturally.

Over the course of the six decades of my life, I have been engaging in the transition from the medical healing model to the natural healing model. I grew up in a family that regarded doctors as gods and what they did as the only way to get well. Much later I realized that they do no possess all the answers and much of what they do is trial and error, backed up by varying levels of intuition, to find what is my problem and what medicine can fix it fast. Over this same span, I found a host of complementary (used to be called alternative) medicines. Most of them work, with fewer side effects.

I believe everyone has healing power, especially moms.
