I found a MS PowerPoint presentation online about child development I think the critical period it talks about in the exerpt makes the need for Brain Education for young children. It will enhance their brains during the critical period while it can have optimal effect.
“Infants’ brains undergo rapid synapse
formation. From 3 -10 years, children’s
brains have more synapses than at any other time in their lives.
Early experience causes synapses to
form or protects them from elimination
at puberty. The time of rapid growth and/or high connectivity is the critical
period in development, the optimal
learning period. Enriched
environments are most important
and beneficial during the critical
period.”
I can always think more clearly after I do meridian exercises. I can connect to a deeper level of understanding inside myself
of Brain Education programs for me has been having the ability to be in touch with who I am and what I really want. I’ve never found something that can do that so deeply in just my daily life. I am also grateful to them for helping me feel more flexible and grounded.
Today, people who call themselves Dahn Healers gathered to share food, news, and stories. I taught a meridian stretching class and that made me happy. Friends randomly stopped by to say hello. I took a short walk through the woods. Today I am grateful for the small things.
Yesterday I had the privilege of helping someone open their third chakra, allowing their brain to feel more peaceful, light, and clear. I also had the privelege to show someone Brain Education physical exercises that relaxed them. I saw yet another person really excited to begin her 6 months of Dahn Yoga training. It was a great day!

In 1989 I fell while I had a 60 lb backpack on. The accident ruptured one and herniated two discs in the lower lumbar region of my back. It was excruciating pain, but I was determined to not undergo surgery, contrary to what the specialists wanted. After many months, my acute pain became more chronic in nature-but I was very limited physically…Do you know what it is like to wake up in the morning with your lower back aching, extreme stiffness in your feet, and experiencing dull pain radiating down my right leg? That is how I felt everyday-I was able to walk but it seemed I was slowly deteriorating inside. I learned to live with this pain, going through many sessions of physical therapy, MRI’s, Cat Scans, EMG’s and chiropractic spine manipulations.
Prior to this, I led a very active life- I loved being outdoors-gardening, hiking, playing tennis & golf, played softball, took bike and white water rafting trips, went fishing. I also took aerobics, jazzercise, tap danced and was an avid jogger…..Under doctors orders, I had to stop all of these activities for fear I would be at risk in rupturing another disc. Walking at a slow pace was all I could really enjoy now.
A few years ago, when I turned 50, I suddenly experienced a “new” type of pain in my lower back. This pain prevented me from lying on my back. If I did sleep flat, I would wake up with such sharp pains that I could hardly get out of bed. My body literally felt like it was 100 years old….. After much testing it was determined that I now had degenerative disc disease.
In my work I travel quite a bit. Since my professional life is very demanding and stressful, at every chance I could get, I would indulge myself and schedule a message (usually deep tissue or shiatsu) at the hotel spa. But even that was not pleasurable anymore-lying on the message table put a tremendous strain on my back.
In addition, I have a young son (5.5 yrs) who needs me very much. He is the joy of my life-but I couldn’t lift him, or play with him as much as I wanted without having my back go out.
I NEEDED TO
FIND A WAYTO FEEL BETTER-I COULD NOT LET MY BODY CONTROL MY LIFE ANYMORE. I NEEDED TO RELAX, LEARN TO STAY CALM ,STRETCH MY MUSCLES. I WANTED TO HAVE A STATE OF
WELLBEING AND HEALTH AGAIN….
POST DAHN YOGA
It was meant to be-One day I was visiting a girlfriend, and I saw a Dahn Yoga flyer wedged in her screen door. They were offering an open house demonstration. This intrigued me….I went with a friend, and joined that evening, with the thought that I would give it a try for 3 months. I must admit I was a bit of a skeptic at first. My back problems were not just a little muscle spasm; there was physical/ structural damage. I figured yoga could increase my energy, and improve my flexibility to stretch my back muscles-but get me out of chronic pain? No way-
After 3 months I saw a gradual transformation. I could for the first time in years lay flat on my back without much discomfort. After 6 months, it felt normal. I couldn’t believe how I was improving !!!! I have been a member now for over 2.5 years. Every week I see the positive effects…. Improving energy flow-ridding toxins, relieving stress, removing stagnant energy and opening meridians. I am feeling better and better releasing more endorphins and stimulating my body’s healing process.
I attribute all of this to the masters who take very good care of me-my healing sessions are vital to keep my energy level up and my dah-jah healthy. They provide gentle yet supportive encouragement. Attending regular Yoga classes combined with healing sessions has been key. The Masters are great healers. They have been a source of strength to me. They have taught me to learn to accept my pain. They truly care about their members, being empathetic, and nurturing. I am committed to Dahn Yoga. It will continue to be an integral part of my life. THE BEST 5 PROGRAM HELPS ME LIVE A HEALTHY, AND HAPPY LIFE. I admit it is hard to balance my work/personal family time to practice home exercises. I need to improve on that…My job is very demanding. But when I walk into the Dahn Yoga in
Bethesda, it really is a happy (smile), healthy and peaceful place. I look forward to learning more about my inner self; improving my mind; achieving a healthy body and creating spiritual enlightenment.

I started yoga classes at the
Dahn
Center in
Gaithersburg in August, 2006. I’ve practiced other yoga styles in other places and noticed the physical benefits, so I figured this would be the same. I didn’t realize at the time that Dahn yoga not only benefits me physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. Dahn hak is not just physical training, it involves all aspects of body, mind and spirit.
The integration of these aspects of Dahn are most evident with Shim Sung training. Shim Sung training is about who we really are, what we really want, and what our purpose I life really is. So much of our time in our daily life is spent seeking the answers to these questions in the context of our preconceptions and the perceptions of others are not who we truly are, which is why we don’t find the answers to life’s most basic questions outside of ourselves. We can only answer these questions when we find our true selves within ourselves. That is what Shim Sung is all about.
During the training, I discovered many preconceptions I had about myself and others. I am a physician in the Navy and spent several months deployed in support of Operation Iraqi freedom and Operation Enduring freedom. For several years I have been carrying around very painful memories from those deployments and other events in my life which would manifest as anger, frustration and depression. I had to take medications to control my moods and go to anger and stress management sessions for a year. This therapy only worked at the surface and did not treat the underlying problems, so I gave them up. I wasn’t until I could go to Dahn Yoga healing, meditation, and Shim Sung training that I could learn to deal with my problems and become a happier, healthier person.

Dahn Yoga has helped me with my chronic fatigue and strength issues. Now I have more energy and a “toolbox” of healing methods to use in every situation. The Gaithersburg Dahn Yoga center is a wonderful, vital asset to the community. It is a place where people can come together to heal, laugh, grow be themselves and heal the community.
Also from the same quote…without a goal there is not reason for perisistence and tenacity. If you don’t have a focus, what will you be persistent about. You don’t face obstacles because you are not trying to get anywhere or focus on anything, and then you have less opportunity for personal growth. It’s about the journey.
“Attitudes of life, like persistence, tenacity, patience, and earnestness, are developed in an environment where your child can focus and from something he can focus on.”
…another quote from www.ilchilee.com
Ilchi Lee often talks about the importance of having a goal. I have learned through my own experience how much better it is to have a goal or purpose. Without one, I tend to drift around, lost. With one, I have a direction for my efforts and energy. I can also see myself more clearly and see the situation around me more clearly.
What do you do when you have a goal?
“The Earth cannot be claimed by any one group or organization regardless of its size or power. If humanity can be said to share one collective vision, it would be peace on Earth.” …a quote by Ilchi Lee from www.ilchilee.com.
I think most people on Earth want peace. The key is having hope for peace in our lifetime. Brain Education can help people find the hope they naturally have inside.
I really loved the Shim Sung workshop. I have seen many people find deep inner joy from it. It is quite deep and transformative.
Today’s good news:
Today I had the pleasure of introducing someone to Dahn Yoga and he was very happy. I also helped someone advertise for a Shim Sung workshop to be held in New Hampshire, where there is no Dahn center. A Dahn Healer from Maine is organizing the workshop. It will be held on November 10th and 11th. If you know anyone in Maine or New Hampshire, please let them know Shim Sung is coming!
I see that it is more and more obvious, that this century will be the century of the brain. A few years ago I heard some scientists say this age will be the age of information. And of course the brain is defined by what kind of information is stored in it. The energy in the brain depends on the information. For example if you tell yourself for one week “I’m sick! I’m sick! I’m sick!” than after one day you’ll probably feel really tired and after one week you might actually get sick. Your body gets weak just because you’re giving your brain negative information. On the other hand if you tell yourself all them “I’m sooo blessed and sooo grateful and sooo happy to be here!” then you’ll feel stronger right away. So that’s the magic of information, energy, and physics. So here I go: I looooove my body! I looooove my body! I loooooove my body! Thank you sooo much!!! Great!!!! I can see that people will more and more discover the power of choice, and the power of their brains, and truly this will be the century of the brain!
I’ve met somebody who would like to open a Dahn center in Argentina. I’m not quite sure whether there’s any possibility for that in the near future. Does anybody know about this or who to contact? Thank you so much.
I am happy the first Dahn center opened in Germany a few months ago. It’s so great! I have some friends there and I told them about it. One of them already tried a class and was amazed by the quick results. DahnYoga is one of the fastest ways I know how to release stress and center your mind again. I’ve tried so many things before, but this one is definitely the fastest way. Even after one year of training I’m still amazed at it.
Experiencing high level energy in DahnYoga usually comes from connecting to the brain stem and experiencing brain waves in energy form running through your body, which can have huge healing effects. It’s amazing that through simple focusing and simple body movements, one can activate this natural healing power. I experienced deep healing, so deep, that I feel this power can heal anything.
In my DahnYoga class in one exercise we clap our partner’s hands, look into each other’s eyes and say together “Great!Great!Great!”. Today I experienced how amazing this actually is. There’s such huge energy flowing between the two people through eyes, hands, and voice. All three energies through vibration, sound, and light, are transferred at the same time. Such a simple exercise and such a huge effect. It’s one of those things why I love Dahn so much!
When I first starting practicing Brain Education exercises, ji-gam exercise was difficult for me because my body was not sensitized to energy and I tried too hard. It became easier but I didn’t value it very much. Now I really value ji-gam and dahn mu exercises as exercises that can really open and awaken my mind and body. They help me feel peaceful and centered without much effort at all. Even one Brain Education exercise is simple and effective for creating peace
What’s your experience with ji-gam?
